We had a little scare on September 4th. I had a little spotting and had to go to the doctor for an emergency ultrasound. Through the ultrasound the doctor was able to find that I have placenta previa. Basically my placenta is low and partially over my cervix.
What does this mean? When this condition is found this early on it usually corrects itself because the placenta moves up in the uterus and away from the cervix. WebMD says that 90% of these early cases fix themselves in this way. If the placenta previa remains I may have to go on bed rest as the baby gets large and weighs down on the placenta. And if the previa is still present at the end of my pregnancy I will have to have an C Section. Since this discovery I've talked to a lot of people that had this or know people that had this condition and they all "fixed themselves" so the outlook is good!
In the mean time, the doctor said that I need to take it easy until my next appointment. No exercising, lifting/walking Gus and lots of resting. My next appointment is September 30th. At that time I will be 15 weeks! They will do an ultrasound to check the previa and give us an update. The baby's fine and so am I - now it's just a big waiting game.

The photo is from our 12 week ultrasound and is of our baby with "it's dukes up" in a boxer pose.
