Week 19

I would like mango salsa on my queso burrito, please. Week 19 is here! Here is what BabyCenter.com has to say about Sudsie's development this week: Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces, and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a mango. The hair on her scalp is sprouting. This is a crucial time for sensory development: Your baby's brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, taking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

On Wednesday, Sudsie and I went to visit Grandma & Grandpa Crandell. We go for a visit most Wednesday nights. They are excited about their first great-grandchild. Grandpa is in the process of stripping the family heirloom crib (they call it a crib but it's very small and more of a bassinet/cradle set up). This is the same crib that my Grandma Crandell used when she was a baby. All my dad's siblings, me and my cousins have all used it. Grandpa is taking all the old paint off and then he is having it repainted. Our little one will sleep in it, in our room for the first months of life. We're very excited to see how it looks once it's finished.

Only 4 days until we find out the baby's gender. Our appointment is first thing next Tuesday morning. Thank God, as I don't think I could wait all day for that news! Anyway, better get your votes in before the word is out.

It's funny how when I see your "new week" post, I feel like you are catching up to me, which can't really happen. I can't believe you are already 19 weeks and finding out what little Sudsie is!!!! And I promise I won't pressure you to tell me since we are still keeping it quiet.
