We arrived in Reno at dinnertime so our obvious next stop was In N Out Burger to get something to eat. Then we drove to Circus Circus and got checked into our room. Then we took the kids up to the midway to see the little circus performance - a guy that balanced on stacks of metal rings. Robert and I weren't that impressed but the kids thought he was amazing! We let them play some carnival games and then went back to our room to get some sleep. We got up early the next morning and checked out. Though we were only there a short time the kids thought it was cool and it only cost us $39 for the night! I'd call that a win. Fun fact: my mom was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno which happened to be across the street from Circus Circus.

Waiting for the circus "show" to start |
We spent Thursday driving east across Nevada making our way to Salt Lake City. We stopped a couple of times to use the restroom and so I could feed Keaton and once to eat lunch at McDonald's (Emerson's pick) in Elko, NV. We arrived at our friends Jamie & Caryn's house just before dinner. They made us a yummy dinner of kabobs and tiramisu. And they had Gummi Bears on DVD which the kids hadn't seen before so they watched that while the adults visited. We got a good night's sleep and then packed up (again!) and headed out of town.
On our way out of town we stopped at Starbucks. I have to say that the Salt Lake City Starbucks is the slowest Starbucks I've seen at 7 am on a Friday! We headed home via Wyoming. We stopped at Little America to let the kids play on the playground while I fed Keaton and we bought sandwiches to eat for lunch. A few hours later we stopped for lunch at the same rest area where we ate lunch the first day of the trip. We got to Fort Collins mid-afternoon and after picking up dinner at Noodles on the way we were home by 6 pm.

When we stopped at Little America this buffalo was by the playground. The kids immediately said "Boo buffalos!" |
