7 Months Old

This past Saturday, Mr. Emerson turned 7 months old. What better way to celebrate the occassion than by attending the CSU football game? Here are the tricks E can do at 7 months old:

• Emerson loves sitting up on his own! He spends a lot of time sitting and playing with toys.


• He will reach for the things he wants and if they are out of his reach will stretch, get on his tummy, scoot (a little) and do whatever it takes to get what he wants.


• Is starting to have favorite toys: LG (Little Gus the stuffed pug), his stacking bowls, the weird ball thing Nonie Ger & Grandpa Ace got him, his baseball rattle.
  
• Can play/entertain himself for over a half an hour.


• Has had a few stretches of sleeping through the night. Last week it was three nights in a row! When he does wake up it's usually only once. Although the other night it was every hour - extremely rough night.


• Enjoys grabbing placemats and pulling them, and everything on them with him!


• In the last week has come to LOVE "So Long, Farewell" from the Sound of Music. Especially enjoys the "Cuckoo, Cuckoo" part. Also likes the silly songs Mommy & Daddy make up


• Likes to grab the tags on Gus' collar.


• Is enjoying books more and more. Will sit and listen while you read, reach for the pages and even starting to "read" books on his own (although they still spend most of the time in his mouth).


• Tried Prunes and loved them. Random, we know. Don't worry, we give him small amounts at a time. Has also tried mixed vegetables.


• Is talking more and more. Sometimes says things that kinda sound like words.


• Seems to recognize the sign for milk.


• Can fall asleep by himself if laid down when sleepy.


• We have introduced the sippy cup. We give it to him occasionally although he just chews on it and gets tiny sips of water every once and a while.


• For the last two weeks has had 4 top teeth coming in! They are at different stages of coming through.


• Now eats in his high chair.


• Is starting to recognize Nonie Ger & Grandpa Ace when we talk to them on Skype each Sunday.


• Sometimes is leary of other people holding him.


• Has a preference for Mama a lot (Daddy loves this when he's fussy!)
