Grandma Debbie

While we were in Portland on vacation we received some bad news. My Grandma Debbie Dickinson died in a rollover car accident on Saturday, October 3rd. She was in a car with my Aunt Margo headed to Georgetown when Aunt Margo lost control of the car and it rolled. Grandma Debbie died on impact while Aunt Margo only walked away with bruises. Grandma Debbie was not wearing her seatbelt while Aunt Margo was.

My office was very supportive and gave me the week off for bereavement. There was a visitation last Friday night and the funeral was this past Saturday morning. She was buried in Golden Cemetary next to Grandpa Tom. Since Grandpa Tom passed away in December 2005 Debbie missed him terribly. She wanted to be with him and now she is.

So many of my childhood memories include her and her family. She did a lot for Brigid and I when we were growing up and was always so supportive. I will miss her deeply but know that she is finally at peace.

This was shocking news and a reminder that lives can change in an instant. To all of our family and friends, please know that you all mean so much to us. We appreciate your love and support and are so lucky to have you in our lives. Also, please, please, please wear your seatbelts anytime you are driving or riding in a car.

So sorry to hear that. I know all to well about accidents like that and luckily my parents were both wearing their belts (which I think contributed to them both still being here). Hope all is getting better for you and your family
