Natapalooza

Growing up birthdays were a very big deal in my family. And because I have such a big family the celebration always stretched out for a week so my mom coined the term Natapalooza. This year Natapalooza was even more special because it was my first one as a mama. Saturday the 27th we met my mom and left Emerson in her care for the next 24 hours. It was amazing! We had breakfast and stopped by my dad's house. Then Robert took me to a surprise location which turned out to be my own personal utopia Happy Cakes! There we picked up my special order of 6 cupcakes which Robert gave me the option of having for my lunch. I managed some self control and we went to Hacienda Colorado instead. Where I had a margarita in the middle of the day and proceeded to get drunk - I know, surprise, surprise. I capped lunch off by eating one of my cupcakes in the car before we headed in to see Sherlock Holmes. After the movie I wanted a pedicure so Robert sat in the chair next to me and observed the process. God love him. That night we went to dinner and then watched a movie at home. Oh, and Robert let me open my presents on my birthday eve (he's usually such a stickler but I wore him down!) and my big present was a nook. For those of you who don't know, it's the Barnes and Noble version of the Kindle. I absolutely love it and use it every day! Amazing technology.

Sunday morning we picked up Emerson, ran an errand and grabbed some lunch. Then we played at home before meeting Mikey & Sarah at Texas Roadhouse for dinner. The highlight of dinner was Emerson flirting with the waitress. While she was taking our order he grabbed her hand and started holding it and then when she looked down he grinned at her. And then he was flirting with the old people at the next table. What a heartbreaker.

We wrapped up the day with more cupcakes followed by a call to the travel agent to book our trip to Mexico! Robert and I are headed to the Mayan Riviera for a week in April. No, we're not taking Emerson. Grandma Monica & Oma Teresa will each be watching him while we're gone. We are so very excited!
