This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.
Since the last post we had our Baby Safe class. Robert summed it up by saying "we're taking our baby home to a house of death!" There were parts of the class that were a little intense and other parts that we felt were overboard. We loved the Baby CPR portion which is the reason we took the class. We just hope we never have to use it on a child, ours or any one else's. We also had dinner with Grandma Teresa, Grandpa Don and Aunt Meggie.
This past weekend we went to Fort Collins to stay with our friends Stefanie and Greg. We had a lot of fun and Gus played with their golden retreiver puppy Delilah. We also attended the baptism of my baby cousin Devin. He and our baby will only be 6 months apart! Finally, on Sunday we took our birthing class. It really opened our eyes up to what lies ahead of us. At the end of class we were able to tour the hospital and see where we will be bringing little Sudsie into the world.
Daddy has continued to work on the nursery and has made major progress. The painting is finished and the chair rail is up. I'm ordering his wall decorations this week and we'll take some more pictures once they're up. The nursery fabric arrived so Grandma Monica will be picking that up this weekend and starting on the nursery bedding. The only bad news is we just went to assemble the crib and there is some paint chipped off of one of the pieces. Bummer! We were so excited to have it up. So, looks like I'll be calling Babies R Us tomorrow! UGH!
We're making progress on our to do list...
